Oscar Baxter Drive Closure: Utility Work Ahead

The Alabama Division of Transportation is set to shut a little parcel of Oscar Baxter Drive another week as the organization gears up to move forward on utility work for the Thruway 69 flyover bridge.

ALDOT says around 100 feet of Oscar Baxter Drive — between Wendy’s and Pizza Cottage — will be closed from Wednesday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan. 26, to permit the City of Tuscaloosa to perform utility work

This comes as more than 56,000 vehicles utilize the passage per day, making an increment of 11% since 2016. The extend may be a joint venture between ALDOT and the Tuscaloosa Province Street Enhancement Commission.

The office clarifies that the flyover bridge will permit activity to pass through the crossing point of Interstate 69 and Skyland Boulevard without halting, whereas too including northbound and southbound paths from the Interstate 20/59 compatibility to Manor Road.
